We're the advice and counselling network. Working with our members, we champion youth advice and counselling services for young people everywhere
Our mission is to ensure all young people can access free support on their journey into adulthood from community-based advice and counselling services that respect their rights and meet their individual needs.
Youth advice and counselling services, also known as ‘early support' or ‘open access hubs', provide transformational whole-life support for young people all over the UK.
Youth advice and counselling services are rooted in their local communities, providing holistic, easily accessible support on a wide range of issues for young people aged 11-25. They come in all shapes and sizes because they are responsive to their communities' needs.
Our Values and Principles
We believe that young people should be able to access high-quality advice and counselling services that respect their rights and meet their individual needs. To become a member your organisation must be committed to upholding the principles outlined in our Quality Framework.
Membership Criteria
- We offer open access services for young people: this means young people can self refer and access support that is free
- We are youth-focused: this means we solely support young people, or if we are an all age-organisation - there is a youth-specific service that is distinct in space, staff and offer
- We are a local organisation serving a local community (this could be city, county or other local area)
- We are not for profit
We support our members in various ways:
-
by developing and disseminating evidence, training and guidance to our members to ensure services have what they need to thrive and meet the varying needs of young people
-
by advocating for national policy change
-
by facilitating rich and rewarding collaboration across our network
-
by centring and amplifying the voices of young people
